The Palette of Memory

Possessing a distinct and resolute vision, Kam-hung uses his creative process to reunite with personal memories and emotional anchors. He passionately portrays pop icons of the 1970s and 80s through a deeply immersive practice: he throws playful punches when painting Bruce Lee, sings the theme song “When We Were Young” while drawing Wong Siu-kei and Lo Ka-man, and frequently features TV stars like Adam Cheng, Lydia Sum, and Liza Wang. His recurring depictions of firefighters and police officers further reveal a captivation with heroic figures. Rather than fixating on realistic rendering, Kam-hung relishes creation as a way to relive those beautiful times. The seemingly abstract lines and vibrant bursts of colour in his artwork beautifully reveal his deep immersion in the warmth of these memories.
