Fish has been Chiu’s favorite subject matter ever since her first piece of work. She finds that fishes, as they glide in the world of water, enjoy enormous freedom and happiness. Despite Chiu’s own sufferings from cancer, her fishes express a wonderful sense of ease and delight. Her optimistic view of life and positive values are also reflected in her use of light and lucid tonality, as well as a color palette in her two-dimension paintings.
