CHAN Sze-man Vicky
Sze-man, Vicky, is good at using lines to sketch landscapes boldly, with interesting appearances and clear composition. She also writes calligraphy in the same style of lines. The themes of her creations vary but all come from her daily life, including television, newspapers and magazines, buildings on the streets, means of transportation, floor tiles and fallen leaves. Whenever Vicky finds an interesting theme, she will throw herself into the creation: taking a photo of it, doing research on internet, jotting notes, making a sketch, arranging the date for painting and preparing for the materials required. When she does her creation, she will listen to the music, lowering her head, working in silence and in a slow manner, and then filling with bright colours and rich contents for her paintings. Always, she even creates number of pieces at one time.
Vicky’s artworks do not only appear on paper or walls, but also infiltrate into daily lives. One of her flower art pieces was selected as a package design for a cookie tin. Through the bright colours and rich images in Vicky’s works, our audience should be able to feel the powerful expression of her frankness and self-confidence, as well as her passion for art creation.
