MA Yuk-fai

Heroic Buddy
“Defeat to villains is one’s dream with justice and a kind heart. Go for it on the paper with powerful brushes!”

Yuk-fai’s inner driving force on art-making has all along been there. At the very beginning, for his poor motor coordination, the lines he drew appeared to be weak and the structure of the composition seemed to be missing. Due to this force and the painting practices during the 4-year art course, there was an obvious and great improvement in his motor coordination.

Because of this improvement, his paintings are now filled with strong and powerful lines and the spaces are arranged with his unique patterns. Fragmented, scattered lines made up different horrible ghosts and spooky cartoon characters. The look like rough and bold brush strokes are in fact resulting from Yuk-fai’s detailed observation and careful painting. The unintentional ink flow is the finishing touch.

With the infusion of fluorescent colors, the juxtaposition of the bright colors with the weird shapes renders a marked contrast effect. His creation is exaggerated and eye-catching, which has become his painting style.
