Taiwan Art Exchange Tour: The Joy of Crafting
2 October 2025
This time, we once again visited Taiwan with 12 students to learn how local artisans utilize the natural resources to create wood sculptures and pottery. Each artisan's skills are admirable, and their careful selection of materials and dedication to craftsmanship reflect a deep cultural heritage.
In the wood sachet workshop, students made sachet filled with wood shavings and experience the charm of traditional craftsmanship and scents of wood. In the pottery workshop, students visited different pottery kilns and learned about the methods of firing pottery. Finally, they painted on plain-fired pottery in the shape of a tiger headrest. This experience not only taught us practical skills, but also deepened our understanding of Taiwan's craft culture.
