SO Hon-shing

Hon Shing excels in observation and imitation. He can easily master the writing of Chinese characters with complex structure and strokes. He chooses characters from his favourite copybook and then take a close look attentively before he writes. After dipping the brush into the ink, his eyes swing between the copybook and the xuan paper. With simply two to three strokes, he will complete his calligraphy, quick and smooth. In addition to imitation from the copybook, most of Hon Shing’s works are about the information he comes across in his daily life, including television programmes and what he sees on the streets. He then transforms them into works of calligraphy with various themes.
